The Dance 3Jack sat in a small room with nine other boys awaiting his turn in front of the cameras, the audience, and the judges. He found himself wishing desperately that Sam had been allowed to accompany him into the waiting room, but she was in the auditorium waiting to cheer him on.
He sighed. Surely there was no much hope of him winning the competition. He was by far the youngest of the finalists; none of the other boys were younger than seventeen. They had far more experience than he did. More training, for all he knew they probably had more talent as well. He nervously shuffled his feet and pulled his coat tighter around his costume. The fact that he had chosen one of the most difficult and athletically demanding dances to perform wasn't helping his nerves. He closed his eyes, replaced the earphones and mentally went through each step and move again. He was going last. He needed to concentrate, he needed to rehearse

The Dance 2Morning found Jack with his head on one of the many tables in the hotel café, staring blankly at the menu over the coffee bar. He sighed.
He REALLY hated mornings. Sam returned with two cups of coffee and a few sandwiches and sat down at the table, setting one coffee in front of the miserably stiff and tired boy. Jack groaned.
"What motive could they POSSIBLY have had to schedule my next dance at seven in the morning? I'm going to be too stiff, too tired, and too pissed off to perform well!"
Sam shot him an annoyed look. "Language, Jack. You're too young to be swearing."
Jack huffed slightly in annoyance, but raised his head and drank his coffee. Sam chuckled to herself and ate her sandwich. "You're right though; five in the morning is a little bit early to have to wake up. Especially since we were so comfortable." She glanced over at her boyfriend and sighed. "Jack, sit up straight. You're only going to make yourself stiffer."
