The fundamental problem with taking a picture of Kinkakuji (the golden pavilion) in Kyoto is that it has been photographed by just about everyone in Japan, as well as many foreigners. There are not very many different vantage points to photograph it from either. The staff of the temple keeps you on the paths the entire time. So I had to approach the picture differently. There was no way I could get a shot of the full pavilion without just rehashing old pictures that can be found anywhere online. I eventually decided to use my telephoto lens to try and get an extreme close-up of one of the angles. It may not necessarily be anything particular new or fresh, but at least it's not the postcard picture.
